About the job:

The VC Partner role is a critical part of our management team in East Africa, and a unique opportunity to join a solid team with a great track record who is looking to build world changing companies at a global scale. The role will be instrumental in the success of the 5-10 technology companies Antler will be part of building each year in East Africa, by providing guidance and coaching to the exceptionally talented people that joins Antler to become founders. There are three components to the VC Partner’s role:

  • Support the establishment of the Antler East Africa Fund, set up to invest in the Antler generated companies as well as existing tech startups in the region
  • Support Antler’s day-to-day local operations
  • Support co-founding teams in developing disruptive products and suitable go-to-market strategies tailored to East Africa


Support the establishment of the Antler East Africa Fund:

  • Support the process of setting up the Antler East Africa Fund
  • Support the fundraising process, including identification of potential local as well as international investors
  • Support the development of a network of investors and angel investors interested in East Africa
  • Promote Antler and the Fund to partner institutions, the media and regional talent/startups
  • Follow the development of tech companies in East Africa, and identify potential investment opportunities for the Antler East Africa Fund
  • Lead the startup conversations regarding investments by the Antler East Africa Fund, and ensure the necessary assessments are made ahead of each Fund investment decision meeting

Support Antler’s day-to-day local operations:

  • Be closely involved in all aspects of the marketing, interviewing and hiring the founders that will create companies with the support of Antler East Africa every year
  • Support the continuous tailoring of the global Antler approach and lessons learned to develop the best model for the East African market and set-up
  • Coordinate the day-to-day Antler East Africa local operations according to plan

Support co-founding teams:

  • Provide hands-on support to the 5-10 annual startups in developing cutting-edge tech products and suitable go-to-market strategies tailored to East Africa
  • Support the portfolio companies as they grow 

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Higher education
  • At least 3+ years of VC/investment fund experience, preferably in an emerging economy
  • Have previously managed multiple teams and individuals that have excelled in high-paced and challenging environments, e.g. startups, consulting, or technology companies
  • Proven experience from successfully managing complicated projects
  • Prior fundraising experience is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial experience: Having built a startup, been an early employee or invested in early stage companies is a big plus
